However, Contador is a vivid image of a fighter against all oddities, a fighter that never gives up and always tries to go beyond his limits. Luxembourg racing cyclist Andy Schleck did won the last, 17th stage of the most popular cycling tour worldwide, Tour de France, but however, didn’t make it to conquer Spaniards first place, Alberto Contador. Sometimes it is just not enough to win only one fight to win the war, as well. The final day was organized in the mountains, a 174 km trace from Pau to the Col du Tourmalet and now the tour has left the Pyrenees. His Spanish rival has already twice won the title. This win was the first one that Schleck had, after Morzine-Avoriaz in the Alps. Luxembourg racer tried to move aside Contador during the final 10 km, but he just didn’t make it. But, Shleck doesn! 217;t give up, he still has one more chance to win the famous yellow jersey. Tomorrow, he will participate in the penultimate stage time trial over a 52km-long flat course. People that know the both racers, claim that the Spanish guy is much better than the Luxembourg one, but we shell wait and see what happens. Contador belongs to the Astana team, and Shleck is second on the complete list. ''I changed my mind when I crossed the finish line [on stage 17]. I will give my maximum in the time trial. I'm sure I will go well. I can still see the yellow jersey in front of me. So I've recently changed my mind about what I said'' – Shleck said after the race. Tour de France race is long 3642 kilometers. Traditionally, it finishes in Paris, which is about to happen tomorrow. The candidates have been racing for three weeks. The definite winner will be known after the race from Bordeaux along the banks of the Gironde River to Paulliac.

He had accelerated less than 4 kilometers from the top of the big climb of the day, when he lost his chain. That forced him to stop on the side of the road and wait for assistance. “For sure these guys don’t get the fair play prize today.” said Schleck at Contrador’s expense as he is now holding the yellow jersey by eight seconds from Schleck.

Najväčšia futbalová slávnosť skončila. Svet už pozná svojich víťazov aj porazených a teraz si tak futbaloví priaznivci ako aj samotní hráči môžu dať pohov a vychutnať si zaslúžený oddych. Spomienky však zostávajú živé a často v pamäti pretrvávajú veľmi dlhý čas. Niekedy tam dokonca zostávajú navždy. Azda spomienky zo Svetového pohára 2010 sú práve týmto typom spomienok. Pesnička od popovej hviezdičky Shakiry „Waka Waka (This time for Africa)“! ; sa stala hymnou tejto športovej udalosti a tiež symbolom FIFA 2010. Spolu s hromovým zvukom trúb vuvuzela sa stali aj novým symbolom Južnej Afriky. Svetový šampionát má vždy neopakovateľnú atmosféru, ktorá je zväčša ešte umocnená množstvom známych mien a slávnych tvárí. No okrem radosti a slávy prišlo aj na sklamania. Azda najdiskutovanejšou témou tohtoročného Svetového pohára bol práve prípad Francúzskeho tímu, ktorý sklamal nielen svojich fanúšikov, ale celý francúzsky národ. Práve toto sklamanie a hanba, ktorú francúzsky tím svojej krajine uštedril, si vyžiadal zmenu trénera. Ďalším, i keď oveľa menším sklamaním, bola skutočnosť, že Brazília sa nedostala do ví! ťaznej Top 3. Napriek tomu to však bol úža! sný mesiac s ešte úžasnejším záverečným ceremoniálom. Napriek mnohým pochybnostiam o účasti Nelsona Mandelu na tomto ceremoniáli sa tento veľký muž Južnej Afriky napokon osobne dostavil. Spolu s manželkou Graca Machel sa doviezli na malom golfovom autíčku odkiaľ s úsmevom mávali divákom. Tí ich privítali búrlivým potleskom zmiešaným so zvukom trúb vuvuzela. Okrem toho sa záverečnej slávnosti zúčastnili aj ďalší významní predstavitelia štátov vrátane Jacob Zumy z Južnej Afriky či Roberta Mugabeho zo Zimbabwe. Takisto členovia kráľovských rodín Holandska a Španielska boli prítomní. Tí spolu s Naomi Campbellowou, Rafaelom Nadalom a Morganom Freemanom sledovali posledný zápas FIFA 2010.

The biggest football holiday is over. World knows its winners and losers and now all football fans and football players as well can have their deserved rest. Memories of course will stay alive for a long time, maybe forever. Shakira’s song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” and the thunderous sound of vuvuzelas were not only the symbols of 2010 FIFA World Cup but they also have become the new symbols of South Africa itself. World Cup in South Africa had an incredible atmosphere as probably every World Cup. Many famous names and well-known faces could be seen there, but also few bitter disillusions occurred this year. The most discussed topic was the one of! French team which disappointed the whole France nation. That required change of coach. Another, although maybe less traumatic and shameful disappointment was that Brazil didn’t get to the winning Top 3. For all that it was an amazing month with even more amazing closing ceremony that took place on Sunday. After doubts if Nelson Mandela will be able to attend closing ceremony of such a big event for South Africa, the doubts were chased away. Nelson driven in a small golf cart alongside his wife Graca Machel came afterward and was welcomed by a thunderous mix of vuvuzelas and roars from the crowd. The ceremony was attended also by heads of state from across Africa, including South Africa’s Jacob Zuma and Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe. Also Dutch and Spanish royals were present. Together with Naomi Campbell, Rafael Nadal and Morgan Freeman they all watched the last FIFA 2010 match.

Champions! Champions! Champions! This was the most common word that could have been heard on Monday on the streets of Madrid. The winners returned home! The Spaniards have a football team to be proud off. And the football players have supporters they deserve - the way they were welcomed by hundred thousands of fans was a picture that every sportsman would want to experience. The World Cup ended, Spain was definitely the best team out of the 32 first ranked in the world. Someone would say, they didn’t score a lot, almost on each match achieved to give the rival one goal only. Madrid was red and yellow all covered with the national flag’s colors, smiles, songs an! d ovations on Monday. The football stars have paraded on the streets of the capital on the top of a bus. There was no place that you could have imagine and not to see someone cheering for their heroes – on balconies, on trees. It is not weird that this atmosphere could have been seen in Spain, if we put accent on the fact that exactly those 23 sportsmen have brought the first World Cup title to Spain. Netherlands was simply not ready to take over that luggage. It was more than clear that this year, Spain has a winning team. It was almost the same that achieved to get the European Championship two years ago. “They won this trophy but it belongs to all Spaniards and it is a win also for all players from previous generations who tried to win it. They won because they were the best, because they played as a team and they played cleanly" – significantly satisfied stated Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. The Spanish king hosted the football players i! n the royal palace. Well done, Spanish guys!

Nedeľa večer. Finále Svetového šampionátu v Južnej Afrike. Nervózny ťažko predpokladateľný zápas. Výsledok nevzišiel z bezgólovej remízy regulérneho času, oba tímy museli museli čeliť predĺženiu. Víťaz bol ťažko odhadnuteľný, oba tímy hrali vynikajúco, disponujúc efektívnou obranou, avšak šance sa pred začiatkom mierne pripisovali Španielom. Holanďania hrali defenzívne, opatrne a veľmi ostražito, avšak minuli niekoľko 100 percentných gólových! šancí. Mohli rozhodnúť skôr. Ale to mohli aj Španieli. Tento zápas bol ukážkou neuveriteľných stratených šancí. Španieli hrali od začiatku aktívnejšie, loptu ovládli s miernou prevahou 55-45. Ale gól neprišiel v prvej polovici. V druhej Holanďania očividne zvýšili tempo a podarilo sa im dostihnúť súpera. Charakter zápasu sa však odvíjal od toho, kto bude mať trochu viac šťastia a podarí sa mu streliť prvý a posledný gól zápasu. S unikajúcim časom sa pritvrdzovalo. Holanďania dostali 8 žltých kariet, navyše John Heitinga musel pred koncom definitívne opustiť zápas. Španieli dostali 5 žltých kariet.Jediný gól zápasu prišiel dve minúty pred skončním predĺženia. V momente, ked! y Holaďania videli penalty, Andres Iniesta poslal do siet! e gó ;l. Zdalo sa, že Španielom narástli krídla a hoci sa už neboli schopní presadiť, čas bol na ich strane. Holaďania neboli schopní za dve minúty poskladať útok a premeniť ho. Nálada po zápase? Devastujúca na holandskej strane. Tréner Bert van Marwijk povedal, že zápas vyhral lepší tím, avšak prehra vo finále Svetového šampionátu bola pre oranžový tím príliš veľké sústo.Na druhej strane sa miešala radosť, extáza a obrovské uvoľnenie. Španielsko získalo svoj prvý titul a na dresy si do budúcnosti pridá povestnú hviezdičku. Pokiaľ ide o kontinentálne Španielsko, nebudem sa mýliť, ak poviem, že dnes tam nespal naozaj nikto.Ale – život ide ďalej, či so zlatom, striebrom alebo bez nich. Špa! nielsko porazilo Holandsko 1-0.

Nervous and breathtaking. That was the ultimate match, the World Cup finals between Spain and Netherlands. The result didn't come in the regular time, so both teams were forced to try the fortune in extra additional time. Although one could be in doubts when favorizing the winner, because both teams were strong, projections were mostly on Spanish side. Dutchmen were great, defensive, careful, but missed that small portion of luck, when they lost several 100 percent goal chances. Spaniards played equally well, but from the beggining were slightly dominating the match, winning the ball possession 55-45 in the first half. There was a blank space not only on the playground, bu! t also in players' minds in the first 45 minutes. After the break, Dutch team significantly increased the pace and caught up to Spanish team. But the character of the match was suggesting, it would be a one goal match. The team, being able to break strong defence and grab some luck would be the winner till the end of the match. As the time ran out, players started to be more agressive that resulted in eight yellow and one red cards for Dutch and approximately five yellow cards for Spanish team. John Heitinga left the match soon before the end, after getting two yellow and a red card.The match was running out of its regular time. And just two more minutes before penalties, a surprising goal from Andres Iniesta had appeared. That moment, everybody knew it was the breaking point of the match. Dutchmen were fighting hard to make it to the penalties where only a luck would sign the winner, but only 120 seconds were helpless to create attack and turn it into a goal. The mood aft! er the match was devastating. Bert van Marwijk, Netherlands co! ach said that it was the better team winning that night, but loosing World Cup Final was simply hard to take.How opposite to the happiness, extasy and great relief on the other side. Mueller was an important team support not only because of his 4 goals on this World Cup. German captain Phillip Lahm said, it was the best game they'd played, and although deserved to score more it was very difficult. He also said the team didn't play courageous enough and although they had had a chance they weren't able to use it. Spain will clash with Nederlands at Soccer City in Johannesburg on Sunday. Wibledon is one of English top tournaments and it seems that after withdrawal of English team from South Africa, everyone is back to focus at least on their domestic competition. Some critics even say that Britain is healing its wound searching for Scot Andy Murray. He can be finally one Briton heading towards victory. Although Murray will play on a domestic playground that is generally seen as huge advantage in any ! sport, British statistics are rather poor on successfull domestic matches. The beginning of the tournament was followed by increasing pressure on Murray. After 33 years, Queen Elizabeth II made her return to the All England Club. Murray was supposed to do the only one thing – to bow in front of her. Some expected his refusal, being a proud member of Scotish nationality, some were worried about another huge faux-pas, but in the end, Murray bowed to the political will and entered the tournament.After a week, he made it no easier for his rivals, not giving them a single set, he passed to the semifinals. South Africa’s National Union of Mineworkers is discontented and its members are asking for change. The power utility company Eskom, which was established in 1923 and now is the largest producer of electricity in Africa, has to prepare for strike. Even though electricity supply is an essential service and any kind of halting it is illegal, pay strike was announced on next week. Two other unions involved in providing electricity are considering their positions. As it seems it is country itself that has added muscle to their dem! and. The last offer from Eskom is an 8.5 per cent rise and 100 Euro housing allowance. But Union of Mineworkers is asking for more. They demand a nine per cent pay hike and a 250 Euro monthly housing allowance. Lesiba Seshoka, Union spokesman said, they cannot be tied to a tree by government legislation. If Eskom agrees to the housing allowance, the Union is willing to compromise. But everything points that Eskom doesn’t want to bargain for better conditions for the Union, and so the strike will take place. Bhabhalazi Bulunga, Eskom human resources managing director, relies on the fact that refuse a power supply is illegal, and so does the strike. He says the Union is risking getting its members arrested. The security services will be supervising and anyone engaged in illegal activities will be arrested. Football fans don’t have to worry. Power workers have maintained they will plunge the Football World Cup into darkness only as a last resort.

Ďalšie dve spoločnosti zaoberajúce sa dodávkou energií zvažujú svoju účasť v ňom. Ako sa však zdá, krajina hosťujúca tohtoročné Majstrovstvá sveta vo futbale, prispela k tejto situácii svojou „troškou“. Posledná ponuka Eskomu predstavovala 8.5 percentný nárast a 100 Eur ako príspevok na bývanie nebola dostatočná. Únia má o čosi inú predstavu: požaduje 9 percentné zvýšenie a príspevok na bývanie vo výške 250 Eur. Lesiba Seshoka, hovorkyňa Únie sa vyjadrila, že ich spoločnosť nemôže byť pripútaná ku stromu len kvôli zlej vládnej legisl! atíve. Ak Eskom bude súhlasiť s nimi navrhovano! u vý ;škou príspevku na bývanie, Únia je ochotná ďalej rokovať. Všetko však poukazuje na skutočnosť, že Eskom nemá v pláne vyjednávať o lepších podmienkach a tak k štrajku napokon predsa len dôjde. Bhabhalazi Bulunga, riadiaci pracovník oddelenia ľudských zdrojov v spoločnosti Eskom sa spolieha na skutočnosť, že prerušenie dodávok energií je považované za protizákonné, a tak bude hodnotený i samotný štrajk. Bulunga ďalej dodáva, že bezpečnostná služba bude monitorovať situáciu a pri najmenšom podozrení z páchania protizákonných aktivít budú pracovníci spoločnosti zatknutí. Futbaloví fanúšikovia sa však obávať nemusia. Pracovníci spoločnosti povedali, že zásahy ! do diania Svetového pohára sú až tou poslednou možnosťou.

Swiss professional tennis player, who is considered by many to be the greatest tennis player of all time, Roger Federer, crashed out of Wimbledon and so lose a chance to win his seventh title. After a quarter-final defeat to Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych will be Federer absent from the men’s final for the first time since 2002 when he lost in the first round. Federer as ! a winner of 16 Grand Slam singles titles and a player that has appeared in an unprecedented 22 career Grand Slam Finals is probably someone who should not lose games like this one. But Federer as a man that holds the record of reaching 10 consecutive Grand Slam finals has right for a little break what doesn’t have to automatically mean that his career is over. If he “decided” to take his break now, there is nothing we could blame him for. His nicknames such as The Federer Express or the Swiss Maestro are deserved, but they oblige him to nothing, maybe just to the vanity.
