France reached Davis Cup finale!

France has painful memories of 2010 World Cup when players refused to train after Nicolas Anelka’s rude words to their couch Domenech. While newspapers were weeks after this shameful accident full of questions what will happen with disobedient players, this time the attention of French is concentrated on another topic: tennis. Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men’s tennis, which was founded in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. Since then it has won a lot of attention around the globe. This event is run by the International Tennis Federation and is contested between teams of players from competing countries in a ! knock-out format. The world’s best national teams compete annually for the Davis Cup and French team is one of this year’s finalists. After the Sunday’s 5-0 whitewash of Argentina’s team, Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement got a chance in the Davis Cup final. For France, who beat holders Spain 5-0 in the previous round, it means it will face either Serbia away or the Czech Republic at home. Finals will take place from 3rd to 5th December in the Serbian metropolis of Belegrade. France, which is with its 9 primacies at the third rank in historical chart, gained its latest triumph 9 years ago. While in 2001 France beat Australia 3:2, one year later it was defeated by Russians 2:3. On the other hand, Serbs will be debuting at the finals, what could make them 13th country with the Davis Cup triumph. France has a chance to forget its national football shame and make own country visible and varnish it again.
