FIFA is coming...

If the end of May was dedicated to tennis lover, the soccer season is open now and it will keep the crowd standing from June 11th and all the way to 11th of July. The 19th FIFA World Cup tournament will be held in South Africa and promises to be a unique show as old time rivals are going to meet on the field. Soccer fans will be happy to hear that this year the focus is on quality games and fair play. No more controversies like the one that brought France among the 32 finalist teams or a lenient referee, the soccer players will have to play and demonstrate their abilities regarding strength, stam! ina, speed. The toughest group is Group D with teams like the three-time World Cup winners Germany and four times African Nations Cup winners Ghana, while Group H is the most disregarded as there were no winners up to now from the group. However, the focus is on two teams that come from two countries which are in conflict for a long time. North Korea and South Korea are playing in different groups, but should they qualify for the knockout stages, the match will be one of the most mediatized. South Korea will have to win over three other teams from the Group B (Argentina, Greece, Nigeria) or at least to be second runner-up. In Group G, North Korea will meet on the field Portugal, Ivory Coast, and five times winners Brazil. Although it is not a team with noticeable success, the performance registered in 1966 when they swept the floor with the Italians, leaves the door open for a surprise. Unfortuna! tely, North Korea will have few supporters, especially because! of the conflict with South Korea, and because of the low level of wealth of the population. Let’s be supportive and show that on the field, there is nothing but the game, the players, the ball and the gate. Good luck to all of them!
