Er war glücklich, weil er auf zweitem Platz auf der Leadville 100 landete, was ein Gebirgsrennen auf 100 Meilen durch die Colorado Rockies ist. Seinen Äußerungen nach war das aber nur ein Anfang und er sich jetzt noch mehr aufgemuntert fühlt. Seine nahen Freunde wie Johan Bruyneel oder Direktor der Tour de France wollen sein Comeback nicht kommentieren. Armstrong selbst kommentierte es jedoch im erwähnten Interview. Er ist glücklich, dass er am Rennen wieder teilnehmen wird. Zuerst redete er darüber mit seiner Familie und Freunden und mit höchster Wahrscheinlichkeit soll diese Entscheidung nicht über das Radfahren sein, sondern auch über eine Steigerung des allgemeinen Bewusstseins der Menschen über Krebs. Laut Armstrong wird seine Generation von den Leuten immer als die schmutzige mit Dopingproblemen angesehen und daher wird er ständig danach gefragt. A great racer in cycling, Lance Armstrong announced his come back to the sport world and he intends to win the eighth Tour de France in 2009 after he survived cancer. Now he became a hero, a symbol for all patients who sufer from cancer and also made cycling an elevated sport. He is now 36, and he will 37 next week. Weiters sagten sie, Jerichos Trainer sei zurückgetreten. Er behauptet aber, dass er nicht zurückgetreten ist und das Team nicht aufgelöst und aufgeteilt werden will. Jedoch gab es am Samstag einen Elternprotest, wobei die Eltern verlangten, Jericho zu kündigen, da sie Angst um ihre Kinder haben. Bisher hat er niemanden verletzt, seine Würfe sind aber sehr hart und er scheint, sehr talentiert zu sein. Allerdings setzt sich die Liga hauptsächlich aus Anfängern zusammen und es ist für sie ein bisschen erschreckend, mit Jericho zu spielen. Auf der anderen Seite ist es ihm gegenüber unfair, da er bestraft würde, weil er in etwas exzellent ist. Außerdem hat er nie jemanden verletzt. Jetzt wurde er zum Hauptziel der Eltern und das muss für ihn demütigend sein. Jericho hat das Gefühl, dass es seine Schuld wäre, dass keiner dort Baseball spielen will. Die Liga ist aber eine Entwicklungsliga, sie ist nicht professionell, daher schlugen sie ihm vor, mit älteren Spielern zu spielen oder in eine andere Liga umzusteigen oder auf einer anderen Position zu spielen. Seine Mutter war über die Vorgangsweise der Liga sehr verärgert und am Mittwoch rief sie sogar die Polizei. 5 teams and 5 days of extreme sports by Barbora Misakova
I am not a big fan of sport, and even though I like watching football or hockey from time to time, I would probably never go somewhere to the stadium to see it live. It is enough for me to watch it on the telly, while eating some ice cream or something and still have a possibility just to switch it off if it's too boring. But when I met with the idea of Nissan Outdoor Games which take place in Interlaken this year, I was really thinking it would be a great event and great place to be, especially now on these hot July days. For those of you who know this event I wouldn't say any news, but Outdoor Games is a special event connected with extreme sports – particularly mountain-biking, kayaking, rock climbing, paragliding and BASE jumping. And what it is all about? There are 5 teams, 5 sport disciplines and every team will have a 5 days to shoot a film and take the photos which will be then rated by special Outdoor games jury. And it was actually this idea what captured my mind the most. The whole teams which are consisted of athletes, professional photographer, professional cameraman and film editor have to arrive to the place 5 days before the event starts and every athlete has to perform his own sports. Then the team cameraman and film editor have to produce 5 minutes movie, which script is free. The point is – play the game and make the best short movie which will have the biggest possibility to win. The same is for photographer – his challenge is to make and choose 20 best photos he took during these 5 days while watching athletes from his team. After 5 days of this curious but much more interesting competition the whole “festival” thing can start. All extreme sport lovers, film makers and lovers of photography are coming to Switzerland to see the best movies and photos which are going to be projected on a giant screen and presented to everyone – to the general public as well as the jury. Only original, innovative and powerful images can win. I have to admit, that this time I would love to be there, I am sure I would come into my own.

Mike Leigh is both Australian and Canadian Laser Champion. He uses the smallest fleet used also in Olympic. He has been doing this sport since he was seven years old. He is now 23 and sailing is for him everything, to be concrete & now a full-time job. He is very canny and there are often situations when other sailors would be in the water, he still sails as if the boat was connected to him. During his career he has been racing in many countries across Europe, or in Canada, and also in China where will the next Olympics be held.Sailors need to be in constant training, because it deserves many physical abilities ( strength, stamina) as well as mental preparations such as smarts and good tactics. Mike also does not have a problem with losing weight as many others do and he tries to keep it on a normal side. Now it is easy to see which player was trying to lose weight constantly and which will have problems.For Mike Leight sailing became a personal development by which he can gain many new experience. He is now ranked No. 5 and his attitude since the Youth World Championships has changed. He made a few mistakes, which were so serious, for instatnce as missing the start, that he could not win.Now he is training very hard for the Olympics and he hopes to get a medal. His tactics has changed a lot and now is is training in Warnemunde, Germany. At the Olympics every type of boat will have to race twice a day, but of course everything will depend on the weather, mainly wind conditions.

On Thursday, August 21, U. S. softball team was beaten 3-1 by Japan and therefore was denied a chance for a fourth gold medal. It was their first loss since September 21, 2000 at the Sydney Games. Since then the U. S. had won 22 straight, most of them with terribly lopsided scores. The U. S. had dominated the sport since its Olympic debut in 1996, winning all three golds. Maybe also the American’s absolute domination has contributed to the International Olympic Committee’s decision to drop the sport in a close vote taken in 2006. Therefore it was the sport’s last appearance in the Olympics for at least eight years – and maybe for good. Always leading, this time the U. S. were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning. Bustos had cut it to 2-1 with her 14th career homer, but it didn’t suffice. During the game, the U. S. team never led and made two uncharacteristic errors in the seventh inning. Yukiko Ueno, Japan’s remarkably resilient player handed the Americans their loss and except for Bustos’ homer, she was in command. The day before, she had pitched 21 innings - the equivalent of three complete games - to get her team to the gold-medal match. Too emotional to talk, the Americans left to their locker room before coming back for the awards ceremony. "You don't want it to end this way, but it's all we could do," said Bustos, who attended the medal ceremony wearing sunglasses. After accepting the silver medals, Bustos, Flowers, Lovieanne Jung, Laura Berg and Kelly Kretschman left their cleats at the home plate as a tribute, as they are retiring from international competition.

After 16 days China concluded the most imposing and expensive but also the most controversial Olympic on Sunday.
Closing ceremony started with fireworks and continued with show by London, host of the 2012 Games. Guitarist Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin played hit “Whole Lotta Love“ and David Beckham booted a ball into crawd of athletes.
China as a superpower got what it wanted: effort by its athletes to top the gold-medal standings, almost free organizing and happy volunteers. Additionaly, two athletes gave the greates performances in Olympic history – Michael Phelps in swimming and Usain Bolt from Jamaica in the sprints.
President of International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, said: "Through these Games, the world learned more about China, and China learned more about the world," and added "These were truly exceptional games." IOC was criticized by human rights groups for their refuse to publicly ask China to give press freedom and set free dissidents.

But he says, he had not resigned and that the team does not want to be redistributed. But parents protested on Saturday, to dismiss Jericho, as they are afraid for their children. He had not hurt anyone so far, but his throws are very hard and he seemd to be skilled. However, the league is composed mainly of beginners and it is kind of frightening for them to play with Jericho. On the other side, it is unfair to him , as he would be punished for beiing excellent at something, although he did not hurt anyone. He has a been a big target for parents now, but for him it must be discouraging. Jericho feels it is his fault that noone wants to play baseball there. But the league is developmental, not professional, so they suggest him to play with older players, or to be in another league or to play in another position.
