5 teams and 5 days of extreme sports

I am not a big fan of sport, and even though I like watching football or hockey from time to time, I would probably never go somewhere to the stadium to see it live. It is enough for me to watch it on the telly, while eating some ice cream or something and still have a possibility just to switch it off if it's too boring. But when I met with the idea of Nissan Outdoor Games which take place in Interlaken this year, I was really thinking it would be a great event and great place to be, especially now on these hot July days. For those of you who know this event I wouldn't say any news, but Outdoor Games is a special event connected with extreme sports – particularly mountain-biking, kayaking, rock climbing, paragliding and BASE jumping. And what it is all about? There are 5 teams, 5 sport disciplines and every team will have a 5 days to shoot a film and take the photos which will be then rated by special Outdoor games jury. And it was actually this idea what captured my mind the most. The whole teams which are consisted of athletes, professional photographer, professional cameraman and film editor have to arrive to the place 5 days before the event starts and every athlete has to perform his own sports. Then the team cameraman and film editor have to produce 5 minutes movie, which script is free. The point is – play the game and make the best short movie which will have the biggest possibility to win. The same is for photographer – his challenge is to make and choose 20 best photos he took during these 5 days while watching athletes from his team. After 5 days of this curious but much more interesting competition the whole “festival” thing can start. All extreme sport lovers, film makers and lovers of photography are coming to Switzerland to see the best movies and photos which are going to be projected on a giant screen and presented to everyone – to the general public as well as the jury. Only original, innovative and powerful images can win. I have to admit, that this time I would love to be there, I am sure I would come into my own.
