Well at this moment, there is nothing better I could do than to be honest – I don’t understand sport. I never did and I probably never will. Some kinds of sports such as basketball or volleyball are O.K. to me, but for example American football is quite chaotic. So I hope you forgive me if I make any mistakes. Anyway I won’t be talking so much about the result of match between Saints and Charges, because you can find them anywhere on the net or in the newspapers, and you will understand them better than me. But what is important and quite interesting is the star of this match – Brees. The full name of this 29-year-old quarterback from Texas is Drew Christopher Brees. He was originally playing for San Diego Chargers for his first five seasons, but this Sunday it was for the first time, what Brees had to face his former teammates. Well I wouldn’t like to be in his shoes.
Anyway as the results are showing, he managed this extraordinary and I think for him also quite uncomfortable situation and successfully lead the Saints to a 37-32 win over the Chargers. So he put New Orleans back at .500 and San Diego dropped to 3-5. As the fans could see, the game turned into a shootout between Brees and his former backup from San Diego Rivers. But Brees didn’t take this game as some kind of demonstrating who is better and who is not. As he said: “We beat a very good team today that needed a victory as badly as we did.” But Drew Brees was not the only good player of this match. Also Rivers came up with big numbers – completing 25 of 40 attempts for 341 yards and 3 touchdowns. Not so bad, what you think? Rivers expressed it clearly: “The whole experience was a lot of fun, except the outcome of the game.”

Er war glücklich, weil er auf zweitem Platz auf der Leadville 100 landete, was ein Gebirgsrennen auf 100 Meilen durch die Colorado Rockies ist. Seinen Äußerungen nach war das aber nur ein Anfang und er sich jetzt noch mehr aufgemuntert fühlt. Seine nahen Freunde wie Johan Bruyneel oder Direktor der Tour de France wollen sein Comeback nicht kommentieren. Armstrong selbst kommentierte es jedoch im erwähnten Interview. Er ist glücklich, dass er am Rennen wieder teilnehmen wird. Ein anderes Problem, das mit seiner Person in Verbindung gestellt wird, ist das Nehmen von leistungsunterstützenden Drogen. Laut Armstrong wird seine Generation von den Leuten immer als die schmutzige mit Dopingproblemen angesehen und daher wird er ständig danach gefragt. A great racer in cycling, Lance Armstrong announced his come back to the sport world and he intends to win the eighth Tour de France in 2009 after he survived cancer. Now he became a hero, a symbol for all patients who sufer from cancer and also made cycling an elevated sport. He is now 36, and he will 37 next week. Bisher hat er niemanden verletzt, seine Würfe sind aber sehr hart und er scheint, sehr talentiert zu sein. Allerdings setzt sich die Liga hauptsächlich aus Anfängern zusammen und es ist für sie ein bisschen erschreckend, mit Jericho zu spielen. Auf der anderen Seite ist es ihm gegenüber unfair, da er bestraft würde, weil er in etwas exzellent ist. Außerdem hat er nie jemanden verletzt. Jetzt wurde er zum Hauptziel der Eltern und das muss für ihn demütigend sein. Jericho hat das Gefühl, dass es seine Schuld wäre, dass keiner dort Baseball spielen will. Die Liga ist aber eine Entwicklungsliga, sie ist nicht professionell, daher schlugen sie ihm vor, mit älteren Spielern zu spielen oder in eine andere Liga umzusteigen oder auf einer anderen Position zu spielen. Seine Mutter war über die Vorgangsweise der Liga sehr verärgert und am Mittwoch rief sie sogar die Polizei. Nun bemühen sie sich, das Problem mit Kommunalrechtsanwalt John Williams zu lösen und verschiedene Möglichkeiten zu besprechen.

Even though China is a leader in many sports, tennis is not one of those where they are champions. Once Safin faced Federer at 2005 Australian Open semifinals, and he won. Therefore Federer comments, that he thinks Safin could beat him. On Thursday, August 21, U. S. softball team was beaten 3-1 by Japan and therefore was denied a chance for a fourth gold medal. It was their first loss since September 21, 2000 at the Sydney Games. Since then the U. S. had won 22 straight, most of them with terribly lopsided scores. The U. S. had dominated the sport since its Olympic debut in 1996, winning all three golds. Maybe also the American’s absolute domination has contributed to the International Olympic Committee’s decision to drop the sport in a close vote taken in 2006. Therefore it was the sport’s last appearance in the Olympics for at least eight years – and maybe for good. Always leading, this time the U. S. were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning. Bustos had cut it to 2-1 with her 14th career homer, but it didn’t suffice. During the game, the U. S. team never led and made two uncharacteristic errors in the seventh inning. Yukiko Ueno, Japan’s remarkably resilient player handed the Americans their loss and except for Bustos’ homer, she was in command. The day before, she had pitched 21 innings - the equivalent of three complete games - to get her team to the gold-medal match. Too emotional to talk, the Americans left to their locker room before coming back for the awards ceremony. "You don't want it to end this way, but it's all we could do," said Bustos, who attended the medal ceremony wearing sunglasses. After accepting the silver medals, Bustos, Flowers, Lovieanne Jung, Laura Berg and Kelly Kretschman left their cleats at the home plate as a tribute, as they are retiring from international competition.

After 16 days China concluded the most imposing and expensive but also the most controversial Olympic on Sunday.
Closing ceremony started with fireworks and continued with show by London, host of the 2012 Games. Guitarist Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin played hit “Whole Lotta Love“ and David Beckham booted a ball into crawd of athletes.
China as a superpower got what it wanted: effort by its athletes to top the gold-medal standings, almost free organizing and happy volunteers. Additionaly, two athletes gave the greates performances in Olympic history – Michael Phelps in swimming and Usain Bolt from Jamaica in the sprints.
President of International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, said: "Through these Games, the world learned more about China, and China learned more about the world," and added "These were truly exceptional games." IOC was criticized by human rights groups for their refuse to publicly ask China to give press freedom and set free dissidents.
But the atmosphere on ceremony was splendid, army band played the Chinese anthem, hundreds of dancers, acrobats and drummers swirled on the field.
China invested $40 billion in the Olympics trying to show its economic progress. Olympic telecasts and game´s presentce online achieved record. Rogge said the Olympics would leave a positive legacy for China. But he also noted that China blocked many politically oriented Web sites, despite promises of press freedom during the Olympics.
Human right groups protestet saying that the games were catalyst for „abuses, leading to massive forced evictions, a surge in the arrest, detention and harassment of critics, repeated violations of media freedom, and increased political repression,“ said Sophie Richardson.

Po šestnástich dňoch Čína v nedeľu ukončila najimpozantnejšiu, najdrahšiu ale zároveň in najviac kontroverznú olympiádu.
Ceremoniál začal ohňostrojmi a pokračoval Londýnskou šou, Londýn bude hosťom olympískych hier v roku 2012. Gitarista Jimmy Page z Led Zeppelin zahral hit “Whola Lotta Love” a hviezda David Beckham vykopol loptu medzi zástup športovcov.
Čína ako veľmoc dostala, čo chcela: snahu svojich športovcov získať zlaté medaily, šťastných dobrovoľníkov, vďaka ktorým mala Čína organizáciu takmer zadarmo. Ako bonus, dvaja športovci podali významné výkony v olympijskej histórii - Michael Phelps v plávaní a Usain Bolt z Jamajky v šprinte.
Prezident Medzinárodného olympijského výboru, Jacques Rogge, povedal: “Cez tieto hry sa svet naučil viac o Číne a Čína sa naučila viac o svete,” a dodal “toto boli naozaj výnimočné hry.” Skupiny bojujúce za ľudské práva kritizovali MOV za ich odmietnutie verejne požiadať Čínu aby prepustila disidentov a zaistila slobodu tlače.
Napriek všetkému bola atmosféra na ceremoniály veľkolepá, vojenská kapela hrala čínsku hymnu a stovky tanečníkov, akrobatov a bubeníkov sa krútilo na ihrisku.
Čína investovala do hier viac ako 40 miliárd dolárov, snažiac sa dokázať svetu svoj ekonomický pokrok. Olympijské televízne premietanie ako aj divácka online prítomnosť na hrách dosiahli rekord. Rogge povedal, že olympiáda zanechá v krajine pozitívny odkaz, hoci priznal, že Čína blokovala prístup k mnohým politicky orientovaným web stránkam, hoci sľúbila počas hier slobodu tlače.

Many of these migrant workers had to leave this city, because after finishing the work there was no more work for them. So they went to another place where they will earn some money. Because the money is an important revenue of their families. One day, during a lunch break, an artist wanted to paint a picture of them. And he promised them if he would sell this picture for enough money, he will buy them tickets for the games and pay all expenses. The workers agreed with the picture but they did not believe that this could happen. But the artist sold that picture for more than 4 600 dollars and he performed the promise. Four workers - Yu Qingzhu (40 years old), Zhang Yanqun (24 years old), Wang Sheqi (50 years old), Yun Fangzhi (46yeras old) had been watching the Chinese athlete – hurdler Liu Xiang as he tried to defend his gold medal. Chceš navštíviť Peking, pozrieť si Čínsky múr a najlepších športovcov? Štyria pracovníci dostali túto šancu, aby si pozreli prekrásne mesto počas olympiády a vychutnali si atmosféru. Ako je to možné? Na olympijských štadiónoch pracovalo veľa pracovníkov. Dostávali len pár dolárov a museli pracovať celý deň. Oddychovali len keď jedli a spali. Veľa z týchto migrujúcich pracovníkov muselo teraz opustiť mesto, pretože po dokončení prác tu pre nich už nie je žiadna robota. Odišli na iné miesto, kde zarobia peniaze, ktoré sú dôležitým príjmom pre ich rodiny. Jedného dňa, počas obednej prestávky, prišiel k nim umelec a chcel ich namaľovať na obraz. Sľúbil im, že ak tento obraz predá za dostatok peňazí, tak im kúpi lístky na olympiádu a uhradí za nich všetky výdavky. Pracovníci súhlasili s obrazom, ale neverili, že by sa to mohlo stať. Avšak umelec predal tento obraz za viac ako 4 600 amerických dolárov a splnil svoj sľub. Štyria pracovníci – Yu Qingzhu (40), Zhang Yanqun (24), Wang Sheqi (50), Yun Fangzhi (46) sledovali čínskeho atléta – prekážkara Liu Xiang ako sa pokúšal obhajiť zlatú medailu. Žasli nad atmosférou, povzbudzovali a naučili sa mexickú vlnu. Obdivovali Čínsky múr a jedli čínsku kačicu. Je to naozaj skvelá myšlienka a obrovské zadosťučinenie pre robotníkov, ktorí v Pekingu ťažko pracovali.
