US team goes on...
by Barbora Misakova

United States have a reason for celebration and this moment might be celebrated for decades, at least according to Associated Press. The United States was minutes from World Cup elimination but the match between USA and Algeria ended up lastly by victory 1-0 for USA. American team won their World Cup group for the first time since the initial tournament in 1930 what means they will play on Saturday in the quarterfinals. American withdrawn forward Landon Donovan is national hero as it was his lucky football shoe that slammed the ball into the goal. Goal that came 45 seconds into 4 minutes of stoppage time surprised everyone, including Donovan himself. When he realized what h! e has done, he sprinted to the corner flag, sliding headfirst and teammates piled on one after another. Speeches about the America spirit and belief in the good in the world followed, but only reality will show if the American spirit is strong enough to fight its way into the final. If American team beats Ghana in a rematch of the first-group game they would face Uruguay or South Korea for a berth in the semifinals. And that could be really watching worthy. Where is more drama, there are more fans and spectators. As goalkeeper Tim Howard said: “That is probably going to capture more people’s attention than if we won the game 3-0 and it was easy. That emotion, that passion is what American sports fans thrives on.” Well then, let see what happens next.
