France disappointed, Mexico pleased
by Barbora Misakova

For me – football analphabet it is very difficult to make any comments on FIFA World Cup games and the results. I can hardly compare particular teams, not even players themselves. It is duty of their coaches and fans. And those, as it seems, were not very satisfied with the game of French team played yesterday. Football representatives of France aroused confusion and negative emotions. As daily L’Equipe wrote, France is standing on the steps of the plane way home. France, the 1998 champions have just one point from two games and they will face South Africa in their final pool game next week. Even a win might not be enough for them to qualify. Disappointment from! lost game with Mexico was not only perceptible but also visible. France coach Raymond Domenech was downbeat after the loss. “I am lost for words. It is a real disappointment for those who believed in us.” he told French television channel TF1. “There is one match left. We will play for pride and hope for a miracle. We needed a draw to keep our fate in our hands and couldn’t get it” he said. But this is sport. Where one is losing, another wins. Mexico coach Javier Aguirre was full of praise for his team, but for all that, he realizes they have to stay down-to-earth, especially when their forward Carlos Vela was injured. Even though it is not clear how long he might be out of action, Aguirre is “very worried” for Vela’s health and the team.
