South Africa: Proud finish of the tournament

Duel between France and South Africa was an ultimate fight for the pride. The performance, however was too lousy to even watch – just in case you were French fan. France lost 2-1 against South Africa and their hope to pass further has dissolved in great disappointment. 2006 Silver Champions didn't scored any victory and for the first time they just go home. The victory belonged to host team, though it has had bitter taste. South Africans didn't qualified for the next round of Championship and so it would be the first time hosting country didn't pass as well. The mood among domestic fans was kind of frustrated before the match, many of them had even chosen another team! to support. The only chance for Bafana Bafana to pass was either to win without getting a goal or to wait for Mexico killing Uruguay or vice versa with high score. Although Uruguay won over Mexico, both teams qualified for upcoming matches leaving Bafana Bafana in front of the door.At last South African team won their pride and literally blown 40,000 stadium with excitement, although their high ends low. But not lower then French team. Previous scandals intensed after coach Raymond Domenech sent Anelka back home for insulting and some of players rebelled and didn't appeared on their last matches. Domestic media accused the whole team, the whole situation and blamed the materialism of French morals. The situation turned from bad to worse when team director resigned and left the team to mercy of helpless politicians and till the last hours nobody was sure if Domenech could make up a team able to play.
