Referee's mistakes

Just like any competition with high stakes and time pressing decisions, soccer too generates arguments, contestations and fingers are pointed to all kinds of guilty people from referees to players. However, there is a serious problem that in the past years became more obvious due to the technological means of recording a match. What really raises concerns is the way matches are refereed. World Cup 2010 revealed some blatant referee mistakes and many teams were deprived of their achievements. During qualifications, the referee didn’t notice Thierry Henry hand-leading the goal which qualified France against Irelan! d and that was just the beginning. FIFA President Sepp Blatter appealed to players’ fair-play, thus in a certain measure absolving the referee for having missed that out. Two of the most beautiful matches were also marked by referee mistakes, which cast a shadow over the hard work and the victory obtained by the teams. Germany had a superb performance against England being superior in everything as the 4-1 score shows, but the fact that the referee did not allow one goal (later on screened as being over the line) takes some of the merit. Why? It is a mystery taking into consideration that the England would have lost anyway with 4-2. In the clash between Mexico and Argentina, the mistake the referee made should bring in question how well they are prepared and how adequate they are to supervise the game. You can be mistaken as far a line is concerned or in fail to notice a handled goal, but when a player! is offside and scores you cannot but disallow the goal. Will ! measures be taken against referees or something will be done to improve their performance? Obviously not, Blatter only apologized and said they will take up for discussion again the idea of a goal-line technology.
