FIFA old-fashioned over technology and justice
by Zivka Deleva
Coaches, managers and players are disappointed after The International Federation of Football Association decided not to introduce the goal-line technology in the games, with 6-2 votes. FIFA Board simply prays that in the future, there aren’t going to be a lot of problematic moments in one game. It is a little bit weird, when the mankind today is trying to reduce all possible accidents and be ready to act on it as fast as it can, the people that bring decisions on the most secondary job in the world, want to be blind, when it’s needed. “Technology should not enter into the game. It was a clear statement made by the majority of the IFAB. The main part of t! he game should be humans - players and referees. If we start with goal line technology, then any part of the game and pitch will be a potential space where you could put in place technology to see if the ball was in or out and then you end up with video replays. The door is closed.” – Jérôme Valcke, the FIFA general secretary stated decisively. Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger can not understand the decision of the first people of FIFA, as long as everyone included in the game is longing for the justice. “I do not even think it is linked with the money factor. If you love football you want the right decisions to be made." – sais Wenger. To test the Hawk-Eye technology, electronic chips were put in the ball, and cameras were placed on the goal posts. This kind of technology has already been used in other sports, like tennis. At the end of the day, sportsmen should not have hard feelings when in further games there would be any kinds of errors.! Still, the traditionalists won and they are going to keep the! rules a s they were.
