More luck for Lebanese next time
by Zivka Deleva

In the opening round of the Basketball World Championship, France has won over Lebanon with the impressive score of 86-59 in the Group D. The eyes of the world are focused in the Aegean province of Izmir, where the big Championship is happening. Lebanon’s teams say that they were sorry for the inadequate performance. French boys were simply superior. Mickael Gelabale himself scored one quarter of the points – 18, and his compatriot Alain Koffi made one score less. For the Lebanese team, the most successful was Jackson Vroman. Lebanese boys admitted that they weren’t strong rivals to Frenchmen. "Our rival did well, and they gained 38 points inside, whic! h impressed me a lot," – the coach of the Lebanese national basketball team Tab Baldwin said, right after the game. He explained that the game has started well, but still they couldn’t reach to the Frenchmen. The Lebanese team now is expecting that his team is going to be better motivated in the next game, when they will meet with New Zealand. Tomorrow they will actually try to give some joy to the people of Lebanon. I don’t know, maybe that is a polite thing to do after a match, even when you win one, that the other one was as well, but just wasn’t lucky or something similar. For the French coach Vincent Collet, Lebanese players demonstrated very fast and interesting game and that has provoked even more the French representatives. France’s next rival will be Canada. I am not som e basketball expert, but I expect that that match is going to be more promising for the both teams.
