Lemaitre wins European 100m title

French Christophe Lemaitre became the winner of the European championship in 100 meters. The championships took place in Spain and Lemaitre won his gold on Wednesday. Lemaitre's time was 10.11 seconds, his four rivals came in at exactly the same time of 10.18 seconds. Lemaitre drove attention of medias when he as the first Caucasioan cracked 10 seconds. However, he says that the winning title meant more to him than records. Lemaitre, 20 years old shy boy from Annecy, set a new French record of 9.98 seconds. He made the record at the national championships before he went to Barcelona. Happy Lemaitre said that for him the joy of being European champion was much greater than r! unning under 10 seconds. Winning titles is that what matters to him and therefore he wants to focus on it more. Lemaitre was a former world champion in 200 metres. On Friday he has a chance to double his gold tally. Lemaitre also wants to compete in the 4x100 relay on Sunday. It seems he has a big plans, therefore he refused every celebrations. He wants tostay focused on work, training and competitions until the end. Just after that he want to celebrate. Lemaitre is definitely a big talent, surprisingly, he came to athletics quite late. He debuted in 2005 when he was found by a local coach. He is still trying hard to balance his studies of electrical engineering with a promising career. As any other young person, in his free time he likes to go out with friends, watch television or use computer. Lemaitre said he had no plans to abondon his studies.
