Michael Phelps is an American swimmer. He looks like a typical young man. But he is only 23 years old and did so much in his career. He is amazing swimmer and has high goals – he wants to win 8 gold medals on the Olympic Games in Beijing. He starts in 8 disciplines and wants to finish in all of them as first. Do you think that it is impossible? Take a look what he achieved in 2004 on the Olympic Games in Athens. He won 6 gold medals and 2 bronze medals. Phelps wants to break the record of American swimmer Mark Spitz who won 7 gold medals in the 1972 Summer Olympics. Phelps swims so fast that it is hard to compete with him. Until today he has won 5 gold medals and setting 5 new world records. So he has 11 gold medals from Olympic Games and with this amount he is leading the tables. He defeated legends as Russian gymnast Larisa Latinin(with 9 gold medals), Finnish athlete Paavo Nurmi(9 gold medals) and American swimmer Mark Spitz(9 gold medals). And this is not the end, because Michael Phelps will swim in 3 other disciplines and he is regarded as favorite. He is so young but very meaningful. He has still motivation for other victories. This seems that this man has to be like a machine, but in his free time he is like other young people. He does not like getting up very early, he likes sleeping in the afternoon, having fun with his friends, listening to hip-hop and eating pasta and pizza. This young man is just a huge talent and I am curious what everything he will achieve in his life. And I hope that he will remain healthy and without injuries, because this is important to achieve his goals.
