Actor Stephen Baldwin launches extreme sports ministry
by Petra Kamenicka

Stephen Baldwin is a well known actor, he has been playing in movies since 1980s. He comes from a family full of actors, his older brother is Alec Baldwin. Once, when Stephen and his wife Kennya needed a help around the house with their two daughters, they hired a housekeeper form Brazil. She was an elderly woman, her love for Jesus shined through her. This impacted Stephen greatly. But it was his wife, Kennya, who started to attend Brazilian church in New York. Kennya became at that time deeply interested in Bible study. She gave her life to the Lord, so did Stephen too. But his involvement in Christianity become strong after terroristic attacks in September 11. At the same time, he realized, that there was only a little attention to Christianity in mediaplace. That is why he came up with an idea of inspiring young people for Christianity using extreme sports. Stephen, together with Kevin Palau, a son of evangelist Luis Palau co-produced a 40 minutes documentary film. This film includes some extraordinary sports actions, street-style evangelism and bonus material & testimony form 11 top Christian BMX and skateboard sportsmen, some gospel message and footage from a festival from recent spring.
Stephen Baldwin has made another interesting thing. On June 28th, he debuted with his anticipated AsSALT Tour. It is an extreme sports tour. About 10000 visitors attended this tour. There were presentations of freestyle BMX, freestyle motocross and skateboarding. The aim of this occasion was to deliver to young people some powerful message about living with a purpose and making the right things. On this event, there were present various funny and interesting activities for the whole family, such as a rock-climbing wall, a bouncing castle for children, some hip-hop performances and Djs. The most interesting and surprising thing was an amateur skate competition, where over 50 competitors of all ages met. They competed for cash and prizes.
The AsSALT Tour is going to be held on several more places, like Florida or New York.
