Palmer's favorite for Six Nations
by Barbora Misakova
Tom Palmer, an English rugby union footballer, started playing mini rugby when he was five year old. When he was teenager he started play for Boroughmuir School and its club as well. More than one year he spent on New Zealand where he played for New Zealand Schoolboys and after that he started a degree course in physics at Leeds University. In 1997 started his career in Leeds Tykes and on September 1998 he made his debut against Blackheath. During next few years he was working hard to become regular first team player (during season 1999-2000). After a bad injury in 2001 when he broke his leg during a game between England A and Wales A, he was forced to stop playing for the ! rest of the season. Fortunately at the beginning of season 2002-2003 he was back again at full strength. In 2009 he signed contract with Stade Français Paris, a French Professional rugby union club where he plays as a lock. TV channel France 24 asked Tom Palmer for his teammate Mathieu Bastareaud and his performances against Scotland. Palmer said that Bastareaud played very well but it was a shame he did not get some more passes in the second half. On the question what he thinks could be a favorite for the Six Nations he answered: “I think Long Island. They won Grand Slam last year; they have got almost the same team this year, so they have very good players there. I would say they are probably the favorite still.”
