by Magdalena Rosova
Before important Scotland – France match that will take place on Sunday at Murrayfield, former internationals and top sports journalist from both countries spoke about this key match. Didier Camberabero, French former fly-half in years 1982 and 1991, 36 caps, says that in the Six Nations there was always surprise and it often took place in the first game. He hopes that no unpleasant surprise would happen at Murrayfield. French coach Marc Liévremont has trained his team to focus on passing for that game. Les Beus tries to play the same way as the opponents. Usually, it is that way, but this match is not that case. Camberabero hopes that the team could score play! ing the French way. He warns Les Bleus to be aware of the fact that Scots were physically very strong, in good condition and would fight with huge enthusiasm. Gavin Hastings, full back and captain, who played for Scotland 61 times between 1986 and 1995 encourages Scottish to beat French in the first game. He says players needed to knock French down very quickly and to cause some self doubt in their team. According to Hastings, Scottish team was strong, with good line out, able to compete really well but needed also backs capable of scoring. He called French exciting, frustrating, disappointing, and brilliant. Jérôme Prévot, journalist at rugby newspaper Midi Olympique, thinks that Scotland played always the same way and never came with surprise. Even when they played good, it was still far from their best, he supposes. Prévot finds French players individually superior to the Scots and therefore France is his hot favorite. Kevin Ferrie, rugby journa! list at the Herald Scotland newspaper, advises Scotland coach ! Andy Rob inson to get a good start against France. French team must be put under pressure from the start, because they get stronger as the match progresses.
