Ireland waiting for its last chance Nina Gotzmannova
Miracles sometimes happen. And the Irish rugby players in the 2007 World Rugby Cup certain prey for one. Five days before their final match with Argentina they admitted, they don't have more excuses for their poor performance and they face an early flight home. Since now Ireland has won two matches with Namibia (32 & 17) and Georgia (14 & 10). This victory is questionable, because both teams are in the bottom of the chart and they didn't win any single match. It would be really shame for Ireland to be beaten by such lamer ducks, so the victory doesn't really count. In the third match of Pool D France beat Ireland high 25 & 3. They are waiting now for the final match, but Argentina is in the top of the chart with 14 points and 14 tries. Ireland has only 9 tries and needs at least 4more. According to Gordon D'Arcy, an inside centre, Irish team has set a special strategy how to beat Argentina. They need to be a little bit sneaky and tire the tough physical defense of South American team. Then they can take the scoring opportunities and avoid another misfire and failure.Anyway, the Irish players must think about their fans and the viewers first. Rugby World Cup is the fourth largest international sporting event in the world. In 1987 the first world cup watched only 300 million of people; in 2003 the final match between Australia and England has an audience of 3.5 billion. It was broadcasted to 205 countries, so the Irish success or failure will be carefully observed by the whole world.
