After Dementieva and Sharapova Oudin beats also Nadia Petrova

Latest American tennis miracle, Melanie Oudin who is just 18 years old is most reluctant to let herself be ousted from the US Open as she has just celebrates her 1-6 7-6 6-3 victory over Russia´s Nadia Petrova, currently No. 13 in the world. Oudin being not much experienced teenage player managed to oust such seeded athletes as Elena Dementieva, No. 14, and Maria Sharapova, No. 29, on her way to the quarterfinals. And she turned professional just year and a half ago. And of course, one cannot forget about former numero uno Jelena Jankovic, whom she beat this summer at Wimbledon. "It's kind of hard to explain how I've done it," Melanie commented her latest success. "To! day, there were no tears because I believed I can do it. Now I know I do belong here. This is what I want to do. I can compete with these girls no matter who I'm playing. I have a chance against anyone." She became the youngest American to play in the quarterfinals since Serena Williams in 1999. And she won without serving a single ace which only points out her skill, technique and hard training. When it comes to men, Roger Federer performed one of his brilliant games beating Spaniard Tommy Robredo in 7-5 6-2 6-2 match. "He was playing so good," Robredo said of the five-times Open winner. "When he plays like this, it's tough." No. 4 Novak Djokovic had no difficulty bouncing Czech Radek Stepanek 6-1 6-3 6-3 and even amused the crowds by imitating Joe McEnroe afterwards, whom he called from broadcast booth to play a few points. "It actually was quite funny and the crowd loved it," said the Serb. "That was the most important thing. And Johnny, of course, made a small favour co! ming down. It wasn't easy playing in jeans and suit and collar! ed shirt , but it was a lot of fun."
